Event consulting believe it or not is a fast growing profession. There are many of us out there and usually each event consultant has one or more niches that separates them from others. When planning any event it is important to take into consideration using a consultant that is most helpful to your specific event. For example, if you are planning a Bar/Bat Mitzvah you will want a consultant that knows the details and is familiar with hosting that type of event. If the consultant doesn’t know that shellfish and pork can’t be served at a Bar/Bat Mitzvah you should not waist your money on them. Your consultant should know all the details and traditions of your event. Consultants are there to create less work for you not more. Let’s face it consultants cost money and depending on how much work you want the consultant to do, they can cost A LOT of money. So if you are going to spend money you want someone who knows how to do their job.

People ask me all the time if I would hire a consultant for my wedding (no I am not engaged, I am single) and I always say yes. You may wonder why I would waste my money on something that I do everyday, and my reasoning is simple. My wedding day will be about me and the love I have for my spouse I do not want to spend the day worried or stressed about the little details because then the wedding becomes about the party not about the love I have for my spouse. I will plan and organize my wedding of course but when it comes to the big day I will hire a wedding coordinator. Someone I trust to deal with the details and other aspects that could stress me out. So if you are debating on hiring a consultant please note that you have options, you don’t need to hire them for the entire wedding process if you don’t want to, you can hire them just for the day of the event. Its all up to you and how comfortable you feel with planning your event.
